Ben Marcus, a reality TV editor who is feeling disconnected from his family and spiralling into a mid-life crisis, thinks the only way he can be happy is by fulfilling his dream of becoming a professional comedian. While trying to dodge fixing the toilet or helping his son with homework, he discovers the popularity of vlogging and starts to post videos on the internet, soon after a video of him badly fixing the toilet goes viral and he becomes a social-media star known as Selfie Dad. However through friendship with a coworker, Ben finds the secret to a happy family.
